Dog Food day!!!!

So it was time to make dog food again and I decided that this time we take pics of the process.
A badge of dog food is one full months worth for 3 dogs, they eat about 8lbs in 3 days so that means 1 month is roughly 80lbs, so it makes a rather large pile. A badge of dog food is meat, spinach, carrots, viable other greens, kelp, flax seeds, oatmeal and oil for shiny coat.

This first one is the carrots going through the grinder, some 15lbs. I think.

Still grinding up carrots, 15lbs'ish is a lot of carrots.

Getting towards the end of the carrots WHEEEE!!!!!.

Time to mix up the food.

Early in the mixing process can still tell carrots and meat from spinach.

Starting to get hard to mix as things start to firm up some.

Nice and greasy, all the way up the the elbows, and almost done mixing it up.

9. 8lbs bags and 4lbs for the fridge, nice amount this time.

PD. Cleaning the tub, also shows the size of the tub compared to a little dog.

Rescue mission

I went into the garage to get the lawnmower and noticed a bird in the window all the way up under the roof, so i mowed the lawn and went back to put away the mower and the bird was still there ok time to boot it out so i grabbed a cat (qiult) and put her up near the bird but she was scard of it and did not manage to scare the bird into my range instead she went outside the window and tried to catch the momma bird. ok i climbed up high enough to reach the bird then went out into the yard and put it down, all while quilt was chacing the momma bird, after i put it down the momma bird had lured quilt away and was now hopping around with a worm in it's beek, first 5 pics is the young bird just old enough to try and fly, last 2 is the momma bird with a worm.

Hogs in the pile

Forgot to grab the cam as always......

today while clearing out the garage we found what we thought was an ant hill under some junk
when we poked it ants would run around so we got ready to remove it and i noticed something strange poking out of alittle hole in the top of the pile on closer inspection it turned out that a hedgehog had been dragging in junk and putting it in a pile next to the anthill, when i uncovered it to move it i was shocked it hissed at me never had that happen before and i have handled alot of hedge hogs, so i went to pick it up (wearing my ticky leather work gloves) and it chomped down on a finger again never happend before, ok i picked it up around the body only to notice a pink little thing with tiny white spikes laying under it, so as it chomped on my finger again (grumpy little bugger) a box was made ready for me to put it in then i searched the former nest and found 2 tiny little hedghogs about 2-3 days old that i put into the box with the mommy-hoggie (a momgie?), and topped off with some of the debris he had made the nest in, only took her a few minutes to calmdown again and start warming the youngs again, i called someone that has a hedghog shelter and they where more than happy to take the hoggie and her youngs, since if disturbed the mommy-hoggie will leave the nest and not comeback and with dogs and cats running around it would not be safe.
